Ouida Lindsey, 92, devoted wife, mother, and daughter passed away at home in Dallas on October 2, 2010 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will celebrate her life on Monday, October 4, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tuxedo, Jones County.
Born July 2, 1918 to Patrick and Lura Treadwell Beauchamp in the farming community of Wise Chapel near Hamlin, Texas, she spent her youth there and graduated from Anson High School in 1937.
Married to O.L. Lindsey after graduation, they lived in Stamford for 32 years where she was a homemaker and active member of First Baptist Church and Eastern Star, Chapter 269. In 1969 she moved to Abilene where she worked as a supervisor at Hendrick Home for Children for 13 years. She gave tirelessly of herself to those in her care and became affectionately known as "Mama Lindsey". After retiring in 1983 she continued to live in Abilene where she was an active member of First Baptist Church, Wylie Baptist Church and Eastern Star, Chapter 833.
In 1992 she moved to Bedford to be near her children and lived there until 2004. She was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church. The last seven years she has lived in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers; John and Webb (her twin) Beauchamp of Anson, Pat Beauchamp of Lubbock, Bob Beauchamp of Haskell, Arthur Beauchamp of Abilene and one sister Azalee Richards of Bedford.
Ouida is survived by son, Duane Lindsey and wife Ann of Waco; daughter, Linda Fisher and husband Danny of Dallas; three granddaughters, Debra Rountree and husband Mark of Coppell, Christa and husband David of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Deanna Fisher of Dallas and six great grandchildren.
Ouida had many illnesses through which she always exemplified courage, strength and faith in the Lord. She has fought the good fight, finished the race and has carried the family torch to their eternal home. Ouida now rests in the healing arms of her savior Jesus Christ.
