Fred H. Noerenberg, 86, of Olney, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. today at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Church of Olney with Reverend David A. McNabb officiating. Burial with full military rites by Olney Veterans Organizations will be in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Noerenberg was born on October 7, 1917, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of John E. and Wilma (Marien) Noerenberg.

He married Betty L. Harms on March 28,1947. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1992.

He was retired. He was the junior-high and grade-school band director in Olney from 1946 to 1977. He was a member of First Church of Olney. He was a member of Cummins Municipal Band. He organized and directed the Olney Central College String Ensemble for more than 20 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason MSA, Scottish Rite Consistory in
Danville and a member of Olney Rotary Club for more than 55 years, where he was club pianist. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion and American Guild of Organists.

Mr. Noerenberg is survived by a son, Paul F. Noerenberg and his wife, Beverly, of Tolono; two daughters, Mary Cummings and her husband, Raymond, of Pesotum, and Martha Jane Hertendy and her husband, Ron, of Belleville, Ontario, Canada; a brother, John W. Noerenberg, of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Marion Nickels, of East Troy, Wis.; six grand-children and 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and an infant son, James.
