Daryl M. Simmons

Daryl Simmons was born July 13, 1922, to Kyle and Edna Kaul Simmons on a farm south of Beloit. He departed this life at his home Jan 3,
1985, at age 62.

At the age of one year, Daryl moved with his family to a farm four miles northwest of Barnard. He was graduated from Barnard High School in 1940 and attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, for one year.

He was united in marriage to Evelyn Mae McKee Aug. 25, 1944. To this union were born three children. After their marriage, Daryl and Evelyn moved to a farm north of Barnard, moving to the Simmons family farm in 1950.

Daryl spent his life as a farmer, stockman and owner of registered quarter horses. In addition, he was interested in community affairs and served on the Barnard High School Board for 12 years, and was also a member NCKAV-TS Board. He served as community leader of the Rainbow 4-H Club for 15 years.

Daryl was a member of the Saltville Presbyterian Church. A 30-year member of the Barnard Lions Club, he held a 25-year perfect attendance record. He also was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Leland. He is survived by his wife Evelyn of the home; two sons, Steven Simmons, Anchorage, Alaska; Dr. David Simmons and wife Mary, Salina; one
daughter, Nancy McKinney and husband Ivan, Greenwood, Neb.; two sisters, Marjorie West and husband Gordon, Topeka; Joyce Sharp and husband Rodman,
Santa Fe, N.M.; and two grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 5, at the McDonald Funeral Home, Beloit. Interment was in the Saltville Cemetery, rural Beloit.
