Pfc. Charles A. King Died
In France on October 13, 1944

The body of Pfc. Charles A. King, who died near Autry, France on October 13, 1944, will arrive in Hagerstown at 7 p.m. this evening.
Nineteen years old at the time of his death, he had already been wounded twice in the Italian campaign, had participated in the southern France invasion, and received the purple heart and combat badge.
The body will be taken to the Kraiss mortuary upon its arrival here, then will be removed tomorrow to the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary M. Dundas, Clearspring.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Shanktown Evangelical Church, the Rev. Charles A. Bailey and Rev. J. Wade Huffman officiating, with interment at Rest Haven cemetery.
The military service will be directed by the Clearspring American Legion Post, and the body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Pfc. King was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William King. Inducted into the Army here on August 13, 1943, he was a member of the 180th Infantry, 45th Division, Seventh Army.
