She passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 in Dallas.
Toledo was born March 30, 1914 in Ponta, Texas to John A. and Lovie Summerlin Ward.
She married Robert James Chumley in 1930. Toledo was a devoted and faithful member of Highland Oaks Church of Christ in Dallas. She graduated from American University with honors and was an economist for the Internal Revenue Service, the Dept. of Agriculture, and the Dept. of Commerce during her years of residence in the Washington, D.C. area. After retiring from that career, she moved to Dallas, and began a long career in real estate.
She was lovingly known as "Grandma Toledo." She was also known for her compassion. She was always there for every family need or occasion. Her love of all children, and her devotion to her church characterized her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Maudie Ward, Velma Ward, Myrtle Hunter, Johnnie Richey, Margaret Ward, and Billie J. Colcott; brothers, Clarence Matthews, Jack (W.N.) Ward, E.B. Ward and J.D. Ward.
She is survived by a brother, Travis Ward of Dallas and Athens; and many beloved nieces and nephews and friends.
