Wilbur David Layton, 71, 310 W. Greene St. #12, died Tuesday at Guadalupe Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Denton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Cleve Kerby, Blodgett Street Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Kimble, Bob Crouch, George Garber, Wil Liles, Lou Johnson and L.D. Wright.
Born Jan. 11, 1919, in Camden, Ark., Mr. Layton served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was in the motel business in the McGee, Ark., area for 32 years before coming to Carlsbad.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and the BPOE #1558.
Preceded in death by his son, Wilbur Jr. in 1977, Mr. Layton is survived by two sons, Charles David Layton, Greenville, Miss., and Danny Layton, Magnolia, Ark.; one daughter, Dee Ann Pope, Lafayette, La.; two sisters, Jessie Mae Adams, Hope, Ark., and Beulah Lee Layton, Camden, Ark.; and six grandchildren.
