John Stone was born April 20, 1661 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts.He was the son of, Nathaniel Stone and Remember Corning. He married first to, Hester Gaines, daughter of John Gaines and Mary Treadwell,of Ipswich, on April 12,1683.Hester died in 1689 or 1690.John married second ,Sarah Gale,daughter of Edmund Gale and Sarah Dixey,of Marblehead.He married third widow ,Jane (Stacy) Standley on April 21,1726.John Stone died July 28,1736 at age 75.His will was probated on August 2 1736.John Stone was a weaver.
On May 4, 1736, John Cleaves of Beverly was appointed guardian of.John Stone, aged seventy-two, non compos mentis,however he was sufficiently sane to make a will two weeks later.The will states his occupation as weaver, and leaves his property to his wife ("£50 as per indenture"), his nine daughters (named),and his grandsons ,Ambrose Allen, Ambrose Cleaves, Ambrose Patch, and Ambrose, Daniel, John and,Ebenezer Stone.Mr Robert Morgan and Mr William Grover were appointed executors and they returned an inventory of £411.The estate was divided June 9,1737.
