NORTH JUDSON - Al J. Amidei, 93, of North Judson, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010.
Al was born in North Judson on Friday, June 22, 1917, to the late Frank Amidei and Lena (Montinelli) Amidei.
On December 28, 1957, he married Kathryn Rose in North Judson. Al attended North Judson schools during his younger years. He was a member of St. Cyril And Methodius Catholic Church, and was a self-employed business owner of Bass Lake Sand and Gravel. Al graduated from North Judson School in the class of 1935. Al was a guard at Rockwell Co. in Knox, Ind. He was a Wayne Twp. Democratic precinct committeeman for over 50 years. He was a member of the North Judson School Board and was a member of the Starke Co. Council and the North Judson Town Board. He was also a member of the Starke Co Sheriffs merit board. Al enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Al enjoyed Blue Jay sports and playing poker with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Rose Amidei of North Judson, Indiana; daughter, Patricia (Ed) Cox of Abbeville, AL; daughter, Sharon (John) Petromala of Rotunda West, FL; son, Bill (Carol) Widner of Monterey, Ind.; son, Donald (Jan) Amidei of Francesville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Norma) Amidei of North Judson, Ind.; sister, Genevieve Watson of Beaver Creek, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Gerke and Evelyn Foltz.
Burial will take place at St. Jacob's Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 pm today, October 3, 2010, in the Braman & Bailey Funeral Home, North Judson. Services will be held at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church on Monday, October 4, 2010, at 11 a.m., with Father Terry Bennis presiding.
