Hyatt was united in marriage 16 Jun 1907 in Waverly, Coffey County, Kansas with Mary Lucy McDowell; daughter of Thomas Wesley and Julia A. (Brizendine) McDowell.

Hyatt and Mary were the parents of five children:

1. Ethel L. born 1910
2. Fern A. born 1913 married Jacob William Zeisset
3. Hyatt Lynne born 1915 married Ollie Daniel
4. Lawrence R. born 1919
5. Joseph McDowell born 1919 married Merlaine Connie Woertink

Mary passed away 15 Oct 1968 in Manhattan, Riley County, Kansas at the age of 87 years. She was laid to rest in Waverly Cemetery in Waverly, Coffey County, Kansas.

Hyatt, a retired U.S. Mail Carrier and farmer, passed away in July of 1978 in Manhattan at the age of 95 years. He was laid to rest in Waverly Cemetery with Mary.
