The daughter of the late Heyward Adolphus Bennett and Ethel Grooms Bennett, she was born in Summerville, SC, February 2, 1927.
Emily was a graduate of Memminger High School and attended Winthrop College.
She was a member of The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul and The Daughters of the Confederacy.
Emily enjoyed all of Charleston's cultural activities and was a great patron of the arts. She will be best remembered for her generosity and her wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by many loving cousins, including Mateva Hard and Celeste H. Ranson of Camden, Mischelle Hard, Laurel Hays, Rosemary Brown, R. Bryan Collins, Timothy H. Collins and Sandra H. Collins of Charleston and Helen H. Simmons of Holly Hill. Emily was predeceased by her sister, Caroline Bennett Gill.
Interment: Bethany Cemetery.
