At the time of John Allen's death, I believe that Claxton was still part of Tattnall County. But since it is not now, the drop down menu shows Evans, so Evans it is.

John Allen is buried as John Sikes in the John Sikes plot. John Allen is the son of Charlotte Sikes and Jesse A. Durrence, whom she never married. He was b. abt. 1784 and d. 1865.

Note: Charlotte actually married after her last child was born (attributed to Jesse Durrence) to Edward Kennedy, Sr., 17 Aug 1837 in Tattnall Co., GA) and had 10 children by him.

James Allen married Martha E. HENDRIX, about 1848 in either Tatnall or Bulloch Co., GA and had the following children, all of whom were born in Tattnall Co., GA:

1. Martha Evaline Sikes

2. Nancy Sikes, b. 14 Jun 1848; d. 28 Jan 1887,buried in Brewton Cemetery, Hagan, Evans Co., GA; Sect. H-6, as Nancy DeLoach.
