ಌڿڰۣಌಌڿڰۣಌIn Memoriam ಌڿڰۣಌಌڿڰۣಌ

Hilda Mary Garner was born to Margaret and Robert Garner at home at Victoria road in Birkenhead, Merseyside England on the 18th January 1929. My grandparents died before I was born. Life was tough in Birkenhead, but my nan took in washing and ironing to make ends meet, The house was always spotless and the grate was 'blackleadded' and polished. My grandad worked when work was available. They had 9 children, half of which died after they were born.
When my mother was 7, her mum died aged 48 of tuberculosis.

Mum aged 7 and a half was sent to live in a Convent in Holywell, North Wales. That life was tough as well, and she was treated harshly. My mum never complained about her upbringing, or her treatment at the hands of so called Christian women. At the age of 14, my mothers brother took her out of that place and she went to live in as a domestic at St James hospital in the North end of Birkenhead. My mum met my dad at a party William Edward Hunking-Molyneux . They married on 13 March 1957, (see Jane Mary Higgins page for more detail).

Early in the 90's my mum started suffering from Emphysema, which restricted her quite considerably in day to day tasks. The worst thing that affected her was osteoporosis. She had a fracture in her spine which never healed.
Finally in 1997 she went into hospital on the Friday, by the Sunday she was unconscious, she stayed that way. On the Tuesday, the doctor called dad, Peter and I in to tell us that mum didn't have much longer. I asked for my mum to be put into a room on her own so she could have some dignity.
On the Wednesday, 24th of December Christmas eve, My Dad, brother and his girlfriend of the time were at the bedside, I came in, and they left. just half an hour later, my mother called her sisters name (My auntie died in the April of the same year.) I knew that auntie Kathleen had come for mum. She was 68. She died peacefully at Arrowepark Hospital at 11.39am on Christmas eve.
My mum was buried 10 days later with the Christmas presents that we bought her.

~ The Twenty-Third Psalm ~

The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
