Here Thursday

The body of Staff Sergeant Melvin C. Fearnow will arrive here this evening and funeral services for the World War II veteran of the Fifth Air Force in the Pacific will be held Thursday morning.
Fearnow, the son of Mr. And Mrs. W. O. Fearnow, 151 South Mulberry Street enlisted in the Army in 1942. He left this country on March 17, 1942, and was reported missing January 16 1944 in New Guinea. On October 9, 1944 he was officia1ly listed as dead.
He won his wings as radio operator and waist gunner on May 2, 1943 and before his death he made 25 missions. He was awarded the purple heart and President's Citation of Merit posthumously.
Besides his parents, he is survived by sister Bernadine Fearnow, at home; brothers Lloyd, Frank, this city; James, Marlowe, W.Va, Orville, Bunker Hill, W.Va., Norman, Cumberland, Curtis, Williamsport, George, Barberton, Ohio and Guy, Maugansville.
A requiem mass will be offered Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's Church by Rev. Father Simon Kerney. Burial will be at the memorial plot at Rest Haven Cemetery. It will be a full military funeral service.
