Hays -- Alex Gross, 76, died July 1, 1991, at Hays Medical Center-St. Anthony Campus, Hays. He was born Feb. 5, 1915, at Schoenchen, the son of John and Katherine Leiker Gross.

A longtime Hays resident, he was a truck driver for Allied and a maintenance man at Epworth Village Apartments, Hays. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.

On Jan. 29, 1971, he married Thelma Keil Wolf at Hays. She survives.

Other survivors include: three stepsons, George W. Wolf and Dan Wolf, both of Hays, and Steven Wolf, Garden City; five stepdaughters, Charlene Foote, Pueblo, Colo., Mary Schoenberger, Hays, Linda Baird, Pratt, Kathy Kinney, Garden City, and Sharon Chadwell, Brush, Colo.; two brothers, Joe, Munjor, and Jake, Hays; 26 step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Vigil service will be at 8 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel, Hays. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Father Carl Kramer presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
