Private, HQ Company, 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, US Army. Killed in action during the latter stages of Operation Market Garden, the attempt by Allied forces to enter Germany by way of bridges over the northern Rhine River, thereby passing around the German fortifications of the Sigfried Line.

Originally buried at Molenhoek Temporary Cemetery in The Netherlands, then re-interred at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten after the war, then finally brought home to Fayetteville in the late 1940s.
