"He was educated at the Donaldson Academy. At the age of about seventeen, he engaged as a clerk in the Pharmacy of MR. S.J. Hinsdale, whom he remained until Mr. Hinsdale retired in 1886, when he purchased and continued the long established business until his death. Mr. Broadfoot was much beloved by his many friends for his kind and gentle character. He was an excellent Pharmacist, and was a member of the N.C. Pharmaceutical Association from its organization."
