Darwin Ringquist
Darwin G. Ringquist, 73, of Chicago 111., formerly of Fergus Falls, died Monday, March 3, 2003, in Chicago, 111.
He was born July 8, 1929, in Fergus Falls to Elmer and Julia (Sholberg) Ringquist. He was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1948. He also attended North Dakota State School (NDSSS) in Wahpeton, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, served overseas in France, and received his honorable discharge in 1953.
After serving in the Army, he started his printing career at the Fergus Falls Daily Journal and worked at various other papers including the Seattle Times, Tacoma Tribune, Seattle Post, Chicago Sun Times, Minneapolis Star Tribune and the Chicago Tribune. After retirement he worked for the Chicago Cubs where he was the employee of the year in 2002.
He was a life member of the Eagles Aeirie 2339 and a life member of the VFW Post 612 both in Fergus Falls. He also belonged to the Swedish Club in Chicago, 111. where he enjoyed visiting and traveling with his many friends.
He is survived by three sisters, Elaine (Dean) Erickson of Fergus Falls, Dorothy (Durwood) Kjer of Fergus Falls and Carol (C.J.) Olson of Alexandria; one brother, James (Andrina) Ringquist of Buffalo; a special friend, Mary Lou Hunziker of Chicago, 111; four nephews; and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
