Born in Deerfield Township, she was the daughter of the late David A. & Margaretta (Hannah) Halter. Mary enjoyed restaurant work, waitressing and hosting. She worked at P.B. Diner in Clayton for many years and the Kountry Kitchen in Elmer. She liked to travel with Thompson Tours and on cruises, and she enjoyed dancing. She was a member of the Senior Club at Pole Tavern Grange.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Toni M. Tucker and Sharon M. Halter; her sons, Joseph K. Talone and Dana G. Halter; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Carlton "Bummy" Halter, and Jeanette Halter.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Shipley, in 1986; her brothers, Allison, William, John, Kenneth, Howard, and Henry; and her sisters, Dorothy M. Campbell, Viola E. Granato, Irene P. Lingo, Beatrice E. Abercrombie and Martha L. Horton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2018 in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited from 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday evening and from 10 to 11 AM on Thursday morning.
Burial will follow the funeral service in Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove.
