Served in the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in his father's company as musician on 13 Jan 1777 and served until 13 Jan 1780. About Nov. 1781 he enlisted in Capt. Zebulon Thing's company in Lieut. Col. John Brook's 7th regiment and served until 31 Dec 1783, receiving an honorable dishcarge from Gen. Knox after having served over 4 years in the Army.

In the War of 1812, Isaac, with his brother Daniel, Jr., raised the 83rd regiment. Isaac was its colonel and Daniel, Jr. the major, then lieutenant colonel. The regiment served in New York State between Niagra and Platsburg.

Son of Daniel Lane and Mary "Molly" Woodman.

Husband of Ruth Merrill. They married on 6 Apr 1794 in Buxton, York, Maine. They are the parents of Hannah Lane Usher, Eudoxa "Udoxy" Lane.

He married 2nd, Susan Jones. They are the parents of Ruth Merrill Lane, Jane Maria Lane, Mary Jones Lane, Thomas Cutts Lane and Isaac Lane.

DEATHS. In Portland, Isaac Lane of Hollis, aged 69, a soldier in the Revolution and last
war, and late a member of the Executive Council, and an Elector of President.
