Bernadette C. Adams, 74, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her family and under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, rural Detroit Lakes, MN. Officiating will be Fr. Bob LaPlante. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will be at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Cemetery.

Bernadette "Bernie" Dufault was born September 12, 1936 in Crookston, MN to Daniel and Alice (Regimbal) Dufault. She was raised and educated in Crookston, graduating from Mt. Saint Benedict High School in 1954. She attended Moorhead State College and graduated in 1958 with degrees in Music and Business. While attending college she met Merle "Bud" Adams and they were united in marriage June 6, 1959 in Gentilly, MN. After earning her college diploma, Bernadette taught school for one year in Long Prairie, MN before accepting a finance position with Murphy Plan in Moorhead. She went on to work for GMAC as a clerk and worked her way up to credit manager. Bernie retired in 1995. In 1995, Bud and Bernie built a new home on Lake Maud and enjoyed their retirement years together. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, sight seeing, taking in events, playing golf. While home on the lake, Bernie enjoyed spending time in her garden, golfing with friends on various golf courses and reading. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. Holidays were special to Bernie as she loved entertaining and was known by her grandchildren as an excellent cook, especially the French meat pie. She was a member at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church where she served as the liturgist and choir director.

Bernie will be remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 51 years, Bud Adams of Detroit Lakes, MN, two daughters: Barbara (Joseph) Zeleznik of Fargo, ND and Patti (Mike) Schinzing of St. Paul, MN. She is also survived by her three grandchildren that she adored, Jennifer Nelson of Sioux City, IA, Jilliann Nelson of St. Paul, MN and Zachary Schinzing of St. Paul, MN along with one brother: Lloyd (Lucille) Dufault of Fosston, MN and five sisters: Kathleen (Don) Amiot of Red Lake Falls, MN, Pauline (Louis) Roy of Columbia Heights, MN, Rosemary (Gerald) Livdahl of Lake Park, MN, Yvonne (Peter) Anderson of Fisher, MN and Harriet Underdahl of Moorhead, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son: Howard and brother: Donald Dufault
