Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Avo Bennett, 84, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs Cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bennett died Sunday, June 16 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was self-employed in the house cleaning business and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Born April 6, 1918, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Susie (Rector) Bean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert C. Bennett, and 17 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son, Herman Bean, HardyÕs Chapel Community; two daughters, Betty Waters, Nashville, and Dorothy Jean Noye, Ypsilanti, MI; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.
