Her first husband was Col. George William Crawford, whom she was only married to for 2 yrs, she then married John Bowyer.
John Bowyer in his interview with George Atkeson (the 10th Governor of WV) said his wife's grandfather was Major John Cantrell..He had to be talking about his 1st wife Permelia as his 2nd wife at the time Elizabeth Elmore Smith had no grandparent by this name.
This is a bit confusing as I believe Atkeson may have written down John's info incorrectly ..needs more study.
