Peter was a godly Christian man with a sensitive heart, kind and compassionate toward others. He served as sergeant and convoy commander in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom, with two tours in Iraq. He was the recipient of the Army Achievement Medal. Peter was injured in two roadside bomb attacks while serving in Iraq, then suffered an additional concussion back in the United States when the vehicle he was driving was broadsided. He recovered physically, but ultimately died from complications of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury. Although Peter was denied the Purple Heart award during his lifetime because the military did not deem Traumatic Brain Injury to meet the criteria, he received it posthumously on September 15, 2019. Peter is very much loved and will always be missed by his family.
