Mrs. Igdal was a graduate of Gymnasia of Schauliai in Bookkeeping. She was instrumental in managing her mothers business, the Hotel Europa. She was a member of B'nai Israel Synagogue its sisterhood and the Hadassah. She was a charter member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
She was a Holocaust Survivor of Kovno Ghetto (where she met her future husband), The Stutthof Concentration Camp and the 1945 Death March to Germany. She was a member of Bricha, an underground movement that gathered the remnants of the Jewish people together. She and her fiancé Irving were reunited in Munich with the help of the Red Cross.
Survivors include her loving daughter Frieda M. Idgal of Norfolk, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins including: Mickey(Nadia), Frank(Janet), Bobby (Brenda), Mervyn, Dara (Mordechai) and Yonah(Tova). The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers, nurses and aids of Bon Secours Hospital, TCC, Lake Taylor and the Bon Secours Hospice.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 12;00 PM in Forest Lawn Cemetery, by Rabbi Chaim Silver. Memorial donations may be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place. S.W., Washington, DC, 20024-2126, or B'nai Israel Synagogue, 420 Spotswood Ave., Norfolk, VA 23517. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel is handling arrangements.
