Rites In Gary For Mrs. Ruth Talbert
ELWOOD - Mrs. Ruth Talbert, 58, former Elwood resident, died Friday morning at Mercy Hospital in Gary.
Mrs. Talbert was born in Elwood May 11, 1899, a daughter of Dennis and Mary Smith Connell.
She married Carl Talbert in September, 1917, and remained here until the family moved to Gary in 1939.
Her husband is deceased.
Mrs. Talbert was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Gary and the National Council and Catholic Women.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Altherr of Anderson, Mrs. Thomas Spurr of Hobart, Mrs. Victor Horkovi of Gary and Mrs. William Distell of Hobart; one son, Carl Talbert of Gary; one brother, George Connell of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday in Holy Angels Church at Gary. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery at Elwood.

Mrs. Talbert, Former Elwood Woman, Dies
Mrs. Ruth Talbert, widow of Carl Talbert of Gary and former Elwood resident, died Friday at the Mercy hospital in Gary.
Funeral rites will be held Monday morning at Holy Angels Catholic church with burial to be made in the Catholic cemetery in Elwood.
Survivors include four daughters and a son. One daughter, Mrs. Eileen Altherr lives in Anderson. The other children reside in Gary. She is also survived by a brother, George Connell of Indianapolis.
