Roger McKinney Jr., 76yrs old, retired table waiter, father of three sons and a Fort Worth resident for the past thirty-five (35) years, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 25, 1987. His demise came at Fort Worth's Stanford Convalescent Center following several years of disability.

Roger was born, November 2, 1910 at Navasota, Texas in rural Grimes county. He was the son of the late Roger McKinney Sr., and Gertrude Woodard-McKinney who reared him in a Christian home. He united with New Hope Baptist Church in Navasota and was baptized. He attended public school in Navasota.

Roger was united in holy matrimony to Katherine Lawson (Evans) and to this family three (3) sons were born. Mrs. Lawson (?) and two (2) sons preceded him in death.

Mr. McKinney left Navasota as a young man and moved with his family to Dallas, TX. Here he began a career in restaurant and hotel food service. he served as a table waiter in many of Dallas' finer restaurants. He also lived in Wichita Falls where he was a waiter at the Wichita Falls Country Club for over a decade.

Following the death of his wife, Mr. McKinney moved to Fort Worth in 1952 to live with his brother Frank McKinney and his wife Lucille and has remained in that household. He was employed at the old Fletcher's Cafeteria on East Vickery, and at the Historic hotel Blackstone for over a decade. His last employment was for the McPhersons at "Betty Grill" at 114 East first street in downtown Fort Worth. He became disabled while working there and was forced by his health to early retirement.

Brother McKinney united with Greater Love Chapel Church of God In Christ where Dr. C.J.Jones is Pastor.

He leaves to cherish his memory, 1 son, 3 sisters; His sister in law who cared for him during his long illness, Mrs. Willie Mae McKinney, 3 nieces, a faithful and loyal cousin; Wadell(sp) Lloyd (sp) and a host of great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
