Elmo Ottis Evans, 86, of Oak Hill, died Monday, September 10, 2001, at Clay Center. He was the son of Charles Wesley and Minnie E. (Hoffman) Evans, and was born Oct. 1, 1914 near Longford. A graduate of Longford High School, he was a farmer and spent all his life in the Longford and Oak Hill communities. He and Dorothy Mustard were married September 17, 1936. Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Richard, of Paola; two daughters, Louise Garst of Topeka and Janice Matteson of Maple Hill; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter and a stepgrandson.
