Dee was born at Scotts Creek, Jackson County, NC. Son of :

Alfred J Queen1810–1875 _ BIRTH ABT 1810 • Ruthford County, North Carolina, USA. DEATH 4 MAY 1875 • Jackson County, North Carolina, USA.

Mary Ann "Polly" Atkins1830–1878 _ BIRTH ABT 1830 • South Carolina, United States. DEATH 1878 • Jackson, North Carolina, United States.

Purchased 300 acres of land before he married, Texie Harris Love. Dee and Texie was married at Scotts Creek on June 2, 1890 at the age of 29 and 23 respectively. Ref.: Marriage Bonds of Haywood and Jackson Counties and named witnesses and the Justice of Peace.

Dee's sister, Artie who was home with their mother, called the family out from their work in the fields to their parents house, when their mother Mary (Mary Polly) died, says Dee's Daughter, Bessie Queen Cope in 1981. Dee built a house for his orphaned brothers and sisters on his land near him , until his home was completed which would be big enough when finished for his silbings and his own children, and wife, Texie.

Dee's Silbings he raised were: James Henry, Martha Jane, joseph Thomas, John B., Samuel M., Artie, Ellis Worth, Amanda C., Louisa Laura, and Joseph Sherman.

Children of Dee and Texie: Dorothy Jane, Thomas H, Betsy Azzlee, Laura Emmaline (the De Hart Connection), Dorothy H, Joseph D, Fanny Catherine, Mary, William McKinley, Etta Lee, Delos "Delkos", and Lula Sadie.
