Dee's sister, Artie who was home with their mother, called the family out from their work in the fields to their parents house, when their mother Mary (Mary Polly) died, says Dee's Daughter, Bessie Queen Cope in 1981. Dee built a house for his orphaned brothers and sisters on his land near him , until his home was completed which would be big enough when finished for his silbings and his own children, and wife, Texie.
Dee's Silbings he raised were: James Henry, Martha Jane, joseph Thomas, John B., Samuel M., Artie, Ellis Worth, Amanda C., Louisa Laura, and Joseph Sherman.
