Victor J. Jacobs, 82, of Great Bend, died March 6, 2007, at Dwight D. Eisenhower V.A. Hospital in Leavenworth. He was born Aug. 15, 1924, at Pfeifer, the son of John Peter and Margaret Kisner Jacobs.

He was a retired security officer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-1946 with the rank of staff sergeant. He fought in four battles in the Pacific Theater and received a Purple Heart. He was a resident of Olathe for one year, coming from Great Bend, where he lived for 13 years. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the D.A.V., and of American Legion Argonne Post No. 180 and VFW Post No. 3111, both of Great Bend.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Jacobs and wife Jeannette, Olathe, and Bryan Jacobs, Denton, Texas; one stepson, Gary Rankin and wife Georgya, Denton, Texas; two daughters, Sheila Walters and husband Tony, Parkville, Mo., and Sharon Cox and husband Dennis, Denton, Texas; two brothers, Ray Jacobs and wife Eva, Broomfield, Colo., and Alfred Jacobs and wife Virginia, Salina; three sisters, Rose Breit, Wichita, and Virginia Schlegel and Bridgette Karst, both of Hays.

Also surviving, six grandchildren, Christa Ketcham, Deborah Jacobs, Keith Jacobs, Cameron Cox, Tiffany Cox and Russell Cox; two step grandchildren, David Rankin and Katrina Rankin; and five greatgrandchildren, Jack Ketcham, Jacob Ketcham, Gage Jacobs, Wesley Jacobs and Lillie Jacobs.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Mary B. Leiker Jacobs and Betty Rankin Jacobs, two brothers, Andrew Jacobs and Ignatius Jacobs, and four sisters, Mary Breit, Helen Shupman, Margaret Shupman and Ann Pfannenstiel.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Reginald A.officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery with military honors conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the family to receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
