Printed in Daily Herald on 4/21/1915:

"TWO DEATHS OCCUR IN HAMMETT HOME WITHIN FEW HOURS"

"MRS. BARRIOS, VISITOR, PASSED AWAY LAST NIGHT"

"MRS. BARRIOS' DEATH"

"Mrs. Algeria de R. Barrios' death, which occurred at the Hammett home, was likewise unexpected, although the lady had been ill for several days. Mrs. Barrios was the widow of a former president of Guatamala and had been visiting in New Orleans. She came to Biloxi last Sunday and became ill when she reached the city on the arrival of the train, although her condition was not regarded as serious. She was taken to the Hammett home, where she had to visit, and continued to grow worse until taken by death last night. Mrs. Barrios was an old friend of both Mr. and Mrs Hammett and had been coming to Biloxi to visit this family for the past two years or more at different times. A few days ago she wrote to Mr. and Mrs. Hammett of her intentions to visit them and she was encouraged to make the visit. Mrs. Barrios has only one close surviving relative, so far as known, this being a daughter, Miss Consuela Barrios, who lives in Guatamala. She was a native of Virginia, being a daughter of one of the best families in that state. In early life she was married to Senior Barrios, who later became the chief excutive of Guatamala. She was about 40 years old. The lady was taken to the undertaking establishment of the Bradford Livery and Undertaking Co. on Howard avenue. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made, as it has been difficult to communicate with surviving relatives. Telegrams were sent to relatives in Virginia and friends in New Orleans. As soon as a response has been received arrangements for the obsequies will be made."

Printed in Times-Picayune, NOLA on 4/25/1915:

"Biloxi, Mississippi - Mrs. Algeina de R. Barrios, the widow of a former executive of Guatamala, who died in this city Sunday night, was buried in the Biloxi cemetery this morning at 10 o'clock, as was done following instruction received from the Guatamalan consul at New Orleans. Interment will be temporary as the remains will beshipped to Guatelama later."

NOTE - It is not recorded that Algenia's body was ever removed from the cemetery or not.
