Bessie Rice Simpson, 85, KY 235, Nancy, died Wednesday, April 10, 1991, at Humana Hospital-Lake Cumberland, following a long illness.

She was born in Pineville, January 15, 1906, daughter of the late Anderson and Emily Napier Rice. She was a homemaker and member of White Oak Baptist Church.

Her husband, Desmond H. Simpon, survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Floyd Bailey, Elkton, Kentucky, Harold and Gene Simpson, both of Somerset, and Gerald Simpson, Cincinnati; five daughters, Gertrude Browning, Columbia, Bettye Ruth Foluilo, Guthrie, Ann Taylor, Hopkinsville, Lucille Dunlap, Somerset, and Deloris Taylor, West Chester, Ohio; two brothers, Virgil Rice, Summerfield, Florida, and Earl Rice, Norwood, Ohio; four sisters, Bertha Hendericks, Middlesboro, Lucy Wine, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Fannie Sizemore, Pineville, and Alice Mills, Cincinnati, Ohio; 22 grandchildren, Mike Bailey, Steve Bailey, Vicky Browning Pike, Betty Ruth Bailey, Deloris Bailey, Richard Taylor, Dianne Taylor, Cindy Dunlap, Mark Dunlap, Harold W. Simpson, Donald Simpson, Melinda Simpson, (missing lines in copy) Jennifer Taylor, Tina Wilson, Pam Davis, Jessica Simpson, Elizabeth Simpson, Deloris Smith, and Betty Ruth Crone; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bass Bailey; her second husband, John S. Morgan; a son, Ray Bailey; and two brothers, Dan and Robert Rice.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Nancy Funeral Home with Elder Walter Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
