Louise Hyer Drury, 90, of Provo, Utah, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away on September 25, 2010 of causes incident to age. Louise was born April 28, 1920 to Andrew William Hyer and Emma Elaine Hillyard in Lewiston, Utah.

As a child she learned to work and was known for being a hard worker all of her life. She loved sports, (especially softball, running) and dancing, particularly the jitterbug and the swing.

She married her sweetheart Vaughn Smart Drury on July 4, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on July 23, 1942. She accompanied Vaughn to Miami, Florida when he was in the U.S. Army. She worked in Coral Gables, Florida as the head of the payroll department for Embry-Riddle, a company that trained pilots for World War II. Their first son was born in Florida.

After the war, they moved to Fairview, Idaho where they had two daughters and another son. After a few years, they moved to Provo where Louise worked for several employers, including owning a business with her husband and was acknowledged for her excellent accounting skills.

She was an avid fan of Provo High Sports especially Provo High Basketball. She loved gardening, in particular, flowers. Louise crocheted beautiful afghans for family and friends and was known for her chocolate chip cookies and raisin-filled cookies.

She was active and served in various positions in the LDS church including in the Sealing Office at the Provo Temple for twelve years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Edith Theurer and Iris Hyer; five brothers Maurice Hyer, Edgar Hyer, Angus Hyer, Joseph Hyer and William Hyer and a son-in-law, Richard Lee Gordon.

Louise is survived by a sister Wilma (Mark) Spence and a brother Earl H. Hyer, her children, Bruce "Dru" (Leslie) Drury, Monteen Gordon, Pamela (Mark Gulley) Steele and Craig (Robin) Drury, 25 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Burton, Dr. Robert Fowles and the nurses and staff of the IHC Salt Lake Clinic, Kathy and Wally Marsden and all the staff of Park Place of Pleasant Grove assisted living, the nurses and staff of A+ Home Healthcare and Hospice and the nurses and staff of Aspen Ridge Rehabilitation Center of Utah County for their loving and professional care.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant View 3rd Ward Chapel, 650 East Stadium Ave, Provo, UT. A Viewing will be held September 30, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery.
