Unfortunately there are several discrepancies of the year of birth in primary genealogical sources available:
NC Death Cert. shows 1880 , 1900 U.S. Census Records shows 1879 and U.S. Military WWI Draft Registration card shows 1876. Since the draft registration card is the only document that he actually attested to himself, I chose the birth year as 1876. However, it is reasonable to use 1878 as it is more likely due to the dates of birth for his siblings.
