Harmon Grover Stech, 92, of Warren, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at 3:32 a.m. at Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton.
Mr. Stech had been a resident at Heritage Pointe, in Warren, since 1992. He was formerly a resident in Orlando, FL, from 1959 to 1992. He attended Solid Rock United Methodist Church, in Warren. He was a Purdue graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers, and a member of the Theta Tau engineers fraternity and a life member of the Purdue Alumni Association.
He also served in the United States. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945, where he served in the China-Burma-India Theatre
He was born Jan. 26, 1916, in Huntington County, to Harmon G. and Winifred Shutt Stech. He married his wife, Margaret, on Oct. 10, 1941, in Warren. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Tamara Smith of Stowe, VT, and Sara Stech, of East Lansing, MI.; a sister, Virginia Wilkinson, of Markleville; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at Heritage Pointe in the Applegate Chapel, Warren, on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, with Rev. Carol Schrope Scott officiating. Interment was at Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County. The U.S. Army will be conducting military rites.
Memorials are to the Purdue Alumni Association, 403 W. Wood St., West Lafayette, IN 47907.
