Obituary
Marshall Hays Blackard, 53, a salesman and lifelong Blytheville resident, died yesterday morning at his home at 104 East Rose.
A Veteran of World War II, he was active in the American Legion, holding a lifetime membership in that organization.
He was a past state commander and past commander of Dud Cason American Legion Post 24. At the time of his death, he was a member of the State American Legion Executive Committee.
He was a former Scoutmaster from Boy Scout Troop 31 and was a member of the State Baptist Church.
He leaves his mother, Mrs Idella Blackard of Blytheville; Four daughters: Mrs Jerry L. Clere of California, Mrs John C. Farrell of Arnold, Mo., Miss Jeffye Blackard of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mrs George Bruns of Rolla, Mo.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 PM in Cobb Funeral Home chapel by Rev. Alvis Carpenter, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
Members of Dud Carson American Legion Post 24 will hold military rites at the graveside.
Pallbearers will be F. M. Pate, Elton Foster, S. D. Bray, Kenneth Mullins, James Williams, and Bill Steinsick.
