Leslie "Bud" Chandler, 89, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center - North on December 5th, 2013. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 9th at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive -west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8th, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leslie was born on August 29th, 1924 Clinton, Iowa the son of Charles and Dorothy (Leslie) Chandler. He attended Clinton Schools and enlisted in the United State Navy on September 9th, 1941. He was a gunners mate 1st Class and was a veteran of WWII. He was discharged from the Navy on September 15th, 1945. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Nixon on September 30th, 1944 in Clinton, Iowa.

Leslie was employed with Clinton Corn Processing in 1945 and retired there in 1979 as a boilermaker. He then worked for Clinton Electrical and Mechanical Contractors, Inc., retiring in 1986.

Leslie was a member of the VFW #9664 in Camanche, Iowa. He was also member of the Lions Freemason Lodge #93 AF and AM and belonged to the Scottish Rite, receiving the 32nd degree. In addition, he was also a past patron of the Lions Chapter Eastern Star. He was a past President of the Clinton Bowling Association and on June 1st, 2004 was inducted into the Clinton Bowling Associations Hall of Fame.

Leslie achieved the rank of third Dan in the Japanese martial art - Judo, and taught Judo at the YMCA and also instructed the Clinton Police Department in Judo techniques for many years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and the outdoors. Above all he loved his family very much and will be sadly missed.

Leslie is survived by two daughters - Sandra (Carl) Sparlin of Wheatland, IA., Pamela (Richard) Pike of Clinton, IA.; one grandson - Brian (Ashley) Hardy of Clinton, IA.; two great grandchildren; one sister - Carol Weibenga of Thomson, IL. with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Lou, one son - Charles Kenneth, three sisters and one brother.
