Samuel White Thayer was the nephew of his wife Ruth (Packard) Thayer's stepmother, Anna (French) [Thayer] Packard (who was the 3rd wife of Ruth's father Eliphalet Packard). Samuel's mother, Esther (French) Thayer, was an older sister of Anna (French) [Thayer] Packard. In addition, the step-mother-in-law and aunt's 1st husband, David Thayer (1759-1785), was also his uncle and the brother of his father, Samuel White Thayer, Sr, (1757-1816).
