Bert Babcock, grandson of Mrs. Babcock, died at the Spencer coal mine on Monday night, February 1, after an illness of about three weeks. The funeral was held at the ranch house on the Crenshaw place just south of town on Tuesday afternoon and the body laid to rest in Cedar Grove cemetery.
Deceased was born in Conejos County, Colorado, July 18, 1893. He was the last of a family of six children, the mother also being dead. The father is away somewhere in the wide world and all efforts to find him has proven vain. The boy had for some time past made his home with his grandmother to whom he had ever been a dutiful and obedient child. Our sympathies are with the bereaved grandmother.

(His parents were Franklin Babcock and Dora May Jones Babcock. This is the information on his mother and sibblings.Birth: Mother Dora May Jones born Mar. 1, 1871
