GREENVILLE — Earl (Boe) Howard slipped from the world on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Hunt Regional Center in Greenville after a brief illness.
He was born in Hunt County on Feb. 17, 1913, to Walter and Pearl Paris Howard. He was one of six children: Ruby, Edgar, Mildred, Loree and Louvie all preceded him in death. His wife of more than 69 years, Johnnie Sammons Howard, son, Don Ray and grandson, David Steel also preceded him in death.
Boe was a lifelong resident of Hunt County, spending most of his life in Wolfe City. He graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1931. He farmed the Honey Creek community before joining Hennington Studios, working there until retirement.
Daddy Boe, as he was known, was active in many areas of his community, serving as a deacon for the First Baptist Church of Wolfe City for years. Boe had a passion for gardening, winning a "Best Garden" award in 1991. He enjoyed golfing and scored a hole-in-one at Webb Hill Country Club. Tending his cows and horses, hunting and attending sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren also brought him joy.
Surviving Mr. Howard is his daughter, Linda Steele and husband, Bill, of Hurst. Grandchildren include Joel Richardson and wife, Jill, of Caddo Mills; Chaney Muench and husband, Tim, of Frisco; Kristi Haskins and husband, Butch, of Round Rock; Leiann Steele of Sanger; and Steve Steele and wife, Angie, of Trenton. Great-grandchildren include Cade Richardson, Erin Richardson, Taylor Haskins, Brooke Kaskins, Hunter Haskins, Laney Muench, Christina Richardson, LaTasha Cook, Miranda Cook, Ava Steele, Major Steele, Tyler Deary and nieces, nephews, great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law Ann Howard of Paris.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Owens Funeral Home. Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Wofle City with interment following at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
