From "The Carr Book", by Arthur A Carr (1947), pp 393-94

"About 1888 Jerome & Martha resided in Carrondolet, Mo, where Jerome became a Methodist minister in which profession he died four years later while serving a circuit of Churches from Litchfield, Ill. He achieved marked success as a Minister of the Gospel.

Jerome Carr not only possessed a keen, active mind but an inventive one as well. In 1884 while at Cincinnati he built and patented what was the forerunner of the motor bus. Although it failed to meet requirements due to the crude gas engines of the day it attracted much attention. The family preserved a letter from P T Barnum offering to equip his circus with the new transportation if it proved successful.

Jerome was a member of the Masonic fraternity and was buried in Cincinnati with Masonic rites. After the death of Martha his body was taken to Orville, Ohio, where he and his beloved wife lie side by side in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Nine sons and daughters were born to Jerome and Martha. Three of them, Torrence, Samuel and Mary, died as infants. The other six are all considered in the next Generation."
