Edwin Monroe Chestnut, 90, husband of Sarah Idell Shelley Chestnut of Pine Island Road, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Conway Nursing Center following an illness.

Chestnut was born in Horry County, a son of the late Robert Chestnut Jr. and Melissa Edge Chestnut. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Conway. Mr. Chestnut was a member and past master of Conway Masonic Lodge 65 AFM.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Alfred Chestnut of Milo, Iowa, Floyd Chestnut of Myrtle Beach, and Raymond Chestnut and Jennings Chestnut Sr., both of Conway; two daughters, Juanita Betts of Lompoc, Calif., and Elnita Haddad of Anaheim, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with Masonic rites.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
