He was retired after 35 years with Sheller Globe in Portland. He was owner of Mann & Son Garage in Geneva and was manager of the VFW Post 6571 in Geneva for many years. He was a veteran of service with the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post in Portland and a lifetime member of the VFW Post in Geneva.
He was born at Geneva April 21, 1929 to Earl E. and Mary Inez Nevil Mann. His marriage at Portland on June 30, 1950 was to Vera I. Slack, who survives.
Also surviving, in addition to his wife and son, are two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Burk of Geneva and Ms. Rita Mann of Topeka, Ind.; a brother, Carl "Cod" Mann of Geneva; two sisters, Ms. Verle Welker of Fort Wayne and Ms. Norman "Lady" Hough of Bryant; and five grandchildren. Three brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Downing Funeral Home in Geneva, where visitation hours will be Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday for one hour prior to services. Rev. Wilbur Taylor and Rev. John Randall will officiate at services and burial, with military rites, will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Geneva. Memorials to the donor's choice.
