Rhoda was born Sept. 21, 1769, prior to her father's departure from Northampton County for western North Carolina. She was married in Ruthford County to George Russell on Feb. 23 1792, and late in her life she and her husband followed her father to Missouri where he had already moved in 1818. George Russell Jr. was the son of Cpt. George Russell who married Mary Underwood.

Rhoda and George lived in Camden County where at advanced ages both died. Rhoda was a Baptist.

Rhoda's father David farmed in Surry County until 1788, when he moved southwest into Rutherford County and settled on the Broad River, leaving behind his father, his younger brother James with their respective families. His brother-in-law- James Doyle appears to have moved his family along with David's into Rutherford.
Two of David's sons, James Ashley and Samuel with their respective families, had gone whead to Missouri in 1816.

Rhoda's father David Reavis was one of the three founderrs of the Creek Baptist Church in western North Carolina (Surry County), according to the preserved minutes of Dutchman's Creek Baptist Church, "located in the forks of the Yadkin" on March 5, 1772.
