Brooke Aileen Strahin, age 17, of Inglis, FL, died on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at her home in Inglis. Born November 1, 1992, in Jacksonville, FL, to John and Mary (Rhodes) Strahin Jr. She came here 14 years ago from Jacksonville. She was a senior at the Dunnellon High School in Dunnellon, FL, and was a member of the ROTC for the past two years. She was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her maternal grandparents, she was preceded in death by Thomas Allen Hartley, who she lovingly called dad, and four uncles. Surviving are: her parents, mother, Mary Strahin of Inglis, FL, and father, John Strahin Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; paternal grandparents, John and Helene Strahin Sr. of Wilmington, N.C.; her fiancé, Joseph James Walters of Inglis, FL; four uncles; two aunts; numerous cousins; and many loving friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., from the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Gene Landon and Daniel Savage officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at the Fountains Memorial Park Cemetery in Homosassa, FL.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers that those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Crystal River United Methodist Church at 4801 N. Citrus Ave., Crystal River, FL 34428, or Mission of Hope Community Church at 622 N.W. 2nd St. Crystal River, FL 34429.
