John was born July 13, 1926 in Fifty Six to John R. and Eva M. (Hedges) Mitchell.
He was of the Baptist faith and retired from the U.S. Forest Service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Edith (Adams) Mitchell; sons, Harold Mitchell and wife Debbie of Fifty Six and Johnny Mitchell and wife Marlie of Beebe; daughter, Diana Woody and husband Ronnie of Fifty Six; sister, Lillie Gayler of Mtn. View; grandchildren, Shawn Woody and Samantha Dobbins; and great-grandchildren, Dillon Woody, Haley Dobbins and Rachel Dobbins and many other loving relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Mitchell and two sisters.
