Warren E. Volesky, 78, of Beatrice, died at the Paddock Kensington in Beatrice on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2008. He was born on March 18, 1930, at Oketo, Kansas, and attended school in Barneston, Nebraska, and Marysville, Kansas, before graduating from Oketo High School in 1947.


He served as a postman in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1953 and was stationed in Germany. He was married to Margaret Siebels Fredrickson on July 28, 1956 in Marysville, Kansas, and they lived in Filley and on a farm south of Filley before moving to Beatrice in 1982. He worked as a farmhand, managed the Virginia Elevator until 1974, and worked at Dempsters and Totes-Hoover Universal before retiring in 1994. He moved to the Paddock Kensington in July of 2003 and had played in the Kensington Band. He was a member of Fisher Post 367 of the American Legion of Virginia, Nebraska. His hobbies include fishing, gardening, hunting, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He was also an avid college sports fan.


He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Pearl Warren Volesky; his wife, Margaret, who died on July 15, 1993; one daughter, Patricia Ann Trauernicht, who died in 2008; and one son-in-law, Ross "Doc" Graham, who died in 2002.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice, Nebraska, with Pastor Jack Magness officiating. Burial will be in the Barneston Cemetery of Barneston, Nebraska. 


A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the Fox Funeral Home in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of services on Saturday. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Fisher Post 367 of the American Legion of Virginia, Nebraska
