Civil War Soldier. He resided in Marshalltown, Iowa and joined the Union Army's 8th Iowa Cavalry Regiment as First Corporal on August 12, 1863, and he was mustered in on August 27th. Morrill was taken prisoner at Newnan, Georgia on July 30th, 1864. He was held at the notorious Andersonville Prison until he was paroled. Morrill then stayed with his family in Derby to recover from the ill health he suffered as a result of his time at Andersonville, but died shortly after the end of the war without having been discharged.
