Obituary, The Salem Post & The Democrat-Bulletin Thu., August 9, 1934

Albert Richard Stephens, son of J.M. & Nancy Stephens, was born January 2, 1867 on his father’s farm near Salem and departed this life on Friday, August 3, 1934 at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 2 days. He was united in marriage to Frances Elizabeth Garrett April 1, 1896. To this union were born 7 children, Myrtle & Harold preceding him in death. He professed a faith in Christ about 45 years ago & united with the Pleasant Valley Baptist church, remaining a true member until death. He was a good husband, father & neighbor and will be sadly missed. Surviving are his wife; 5 children ---- Mrs. E. H. Bay of Long Beach, CA; Mrs. L. C. Nelson of Salem; Mrs. Ramie Larkin of St. Louis & Vernon & Ray at home; 3 brothers ---- Jerome of Bunker, MO; Riley & James of Seattle, WA; 2 sisters Mrs. Amy Gaines & Mrs. Docia Martin of Salem. He was preceded in death by a brother John M. Stephens. Funeral services were conducted at Doss church yesterday afternoon a 2 o’clock by the Rev. E. F. Maness of Cabool, MO and Rev. G. C. Cooley of Salem, MO. Burial was at the New Hope cemetery.
