Funeral services for Truman Cummings were held Thursday, May 9, 1996, from the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, with obit and eulogy given by Richard George of San Jacinto Church of Christ. Individual tributes were given by family and friends and led by David Gregerson.
Interment was in San Jacinto Cemetery.
Mr. Cummings was born January 8, 1926 in Leggett and died May 6, 1996 at age 70.
He attended Leggett Public School. He served his country in WWII in the U.S. Navy on the USS Oak Hill. On August 12, 1946 he married the former Katherine Thomas who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Presley Cummings and wife Doris of Channelview and Gregory Cummings and wife Debbie of Crosby; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Adline Wilkinson, Bennie Manchaca, Ruth Atchley and husband James of Livingston, Myrtle Phillips and husband J.H. of Leggett, and Barbara Ferris and husband Robert of Arlington; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
