Military History. Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1872, to June 14, 1876, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 5th Artillery, June 15, 1876.

Served: in garrison at Fort Barrancas, Florida September 30, 1876 to July 26, 1877; in suppressing Railroad Disturbances in Pennsylvania to October 25, 1877 (absent sick to January 29, 1878); in garrison at Fort Barrancas, Florida January 29 to August 20, 1878 (leave of absence, to October 1, 1878).
